I DID IT!

February 23, 2016

I’m a huge Audrey Hepburn fan, so this scene from My Fair Lady felt like a fitting way to mark my moment of triumph! Hoorah for Henry Higgins. Couldn’t have said it better myself 🙂

After a good hour of stalling and finger hovering, I finally did it. I hit the send button. Even though I felt sick at the thought, I knew it was time to let my precious go. Yes, The Book of Seven is now in the hands of my fairy godmother and copy editor extraordinaire Sheila Glasbey.  Oh, help!

Here’s a sneak peek of the inside title page, in case you haven’t seen it. The illustration is of a brooch, which has significance in the story and is symbolic of an ancient order of soul seers, known as the Order of Seven.

Title Page for The Book of Seven

It’s taken two years to get here; been an absolute joy to write and huge pain in the arse to edit, but I’m so happy with how it’s turned out 😀  I don’t want to spoil this lovely moment, so I’ll glide over the fact I nearly ruined my eyesight and lost all feeling in my legs in my stubbornness to meet a self-imposed editing deadline. Stupid – stupid – stupid, I know. Don’t worry, I’ve no desire to repeat this level of insanity in the future. This won’t be the final count as I have at least a couple more rounds of edits to go yet, but for those of you who are interested in such things, here is a breakdown of my book statistics:

START DATE: January 2014

END DATE: February 2016

WRITING FIRST DRAFT/RESEARCH: 18 months

EDITING: 6 months

WORD COUNT: 136,400

CHAPTERS: 55

I can’t wait to share the next part of this epic fantasy adventure with you, but for now, I’m off to get some long overdue fresh air and exercise.
